Reporters Cammi Granato ***** Rich Storm

Happy Days for Tweedy
Tweedy led the Blues to a 2-1 meaningless win over the Whites. His Men's league team finished the season 22-1 for a State crown and a league championship.  Rich Storm put this beauty together.

Friday 4/20/01

Hitman had the only meaningful goal Friday to give Stump and the Whites a 1-0 meaningful win.  Rich storm's hustle beat Tommy and Tweedy to the puck and set up the winner.  The Blues had 2 meaningless goals on Stump.  I think Uncle Bob had one and I can't remember the other one.

MOVE TO BOLINGBROOK?

If you don’t want to move to Bolingbrook next year, speak up now. Dues will go up $25.00.

Only 2 Weeks Left in the Season

The King needs Picture money and 30 year Stuff orders.  He also needs $40.00 if you plan to attend Beak's Retirement Party at the Oak Lawn Holiday Inn on June 8.  The King has graciously agreed to round up a table or two full of Duffers.  The evening will include a family style dinner and open bar.

The Peoria Rivermen  are going back to the Northern Conference Finals becoming the first team to join the ECHL’s “Final Four” on Tuesday night with a hard fought 2-1 win over Dayton. That win completed a three-game sweep of their best-of-five semi-final series and was Peoria’s sixth consecutive playoff win. It was also Peoria’s sixth straight playoff win over the Bombers. The Rivermen eliminated Dayton last year in the quarterfinals in a similar three-game sweep. Peoria entered the post season as the number two seed in the North; Dayton was the number three seed.

 Worcester Ice Cats

Coach Don Granato is
AHL Coach of the Year.

IceCats Head Coach Don Granato was presented with the AHL Coach of the Year Award.  Worcester finished with a 48-20-9-3 record in the 2000-01 season, good for a League leading 108 points. The team has established numerous franchise records, including most wins, fewest losses and most points in a season.

                         ICECATS TRAIL SERIES 2-1
Worcester bounced back with a big 5-0 win at Providence and now trails two games to one in their best-of-7 series. Details on the Rivermen Conference finale will be available once the opponent is decided.

Play Offs

The Saber Goons jumped off to a 3-0 lead
and we couldn't buy a goal.

Tweedy passes to Jason Sato in the slot where he fires a shot and shatters the glass. (Below)

Bob Granato shovels up the glass and Mike Ladas helps replace the new glass that Tom Kelly helped deliver. (below)

There were a lot of Dean fans for the championship game. Only 3 Duffers and a GOD. (Grandson Of a Duffer) showed up.

Less than a minute later, Danny Granato took a pass from his brother Bob and smoked the loud mouth goalie for a 4-3 lead.

late in the second period, Mike Ladas, took a pass from Scott Matthew's and scored an unbelievable goal to make it 6-3.  Mike was pulled down , but he managed to score.

Dean scored the 8th goal (Above) and Bob Granato finished of the scoring (Below) to make the final 9-5.

Jason's shot caused a 1 hour delay.

Goalie, Ed Wahhorne shut the door with a big save and Deno Paloumpis started the come back with a goal just 2.5 seconds before the first period ended. (below)

Dean shoots and scores to make it 3-1

Less than a minute into the 2nd period, Jason shot high and the Goalie went down to make it 3-2

1 minute later, Tommy Z was sprung for a break away by Eric Langheinrich.  Goalie goes down,

Tommy goes upstairs for the goal.

Hal Gabrielson made it 5-3 a little later in the period with a short handed goal.

Dan Lopatka, answered a Saber goal with a shot from the point that  made it 7-4.

The once proud boasting Saber goalie is now on suicide watch.

Dan Lopatka left his feet to give  Joynt a shot in the nose.
